Challenge 6 - Data Governance
Introduction
After successfully implementing some security best practices in Challenge 4, your team is wondering what options are available to automatically catalog and classify the data estate. In doing so, you will help empower information consumers to find data assets that matter to them and help lay the foundations for effective data governance.
Description
The objective of this challenge is to populate a data catalog with the assets that existing within your Azure data estate. Your company has been provided the following requirements and guidelines:
- Select and provision a service that will be capable of automatically scanning and classifying sources within the data estate.
- Register and scan data sources to populate the enterprise data catalog.
- Demonstrate the ability to enrich data assets with additional metadata beyond what is captured as part of the automated scan.
Success Criteria
- Verfiy data governance service is provisioned.
- Confirm each team member has at least read-only access to the service.
- At least one data source has been registered and scanned.
- At least one data asset has been enriched with additional metadata (e.g. Description).
