Copilot Studio Agent Build-A-Thon

As artificial intelligence continues to transform the way we work, collaborate, and address challenges, the Agent Build-A-Thon provides teams from organizations worldwide with an opportunity to explore the capabilities of Microsoft Copilot Studio. Regardless of prior experience, participants are encouraged to engage with Copilot Studio, leveraging these Build-A-Thon events to innovate, acquire new skills, and develop agents that address practical business requirements.

Beginning in September 2025, the Power CAT team will host two distinct types of Agent Build-A-Thons. Both formats focus on the themes of Learn, Build, and Showcase, ensuring all participants receive hands-on learning experiences, guidance from experts, and the chance to present their solutions to peers and advisors. And of course, we will recognize your worthy engagement and successful completion of your agentic prototype with an authentic Credly badge that you can show off to your friends, team members and on LinkedIn!

Monthly Virtual Agent Build-A-Thons

A hands-on, team-based experience delivered online over four weeks, designed to accelerate understanding and adoption of agentic AI. During the 1st week, we will host a total of ~8 hours of instructor-led learning sessions. We will support your team’s agent building journey over the 2nd and 3rd week through daily office hours and on-demand 1:1 technical advisory session in your time zone. In the last week, all the teams will be invited to showcase their creations and share their learnings with other participating teams as well as Microsoft product leaders.

In-person Agent Build-A-Thons

A condensed, immersive event held onsite, where individuals and teams learn, build, and showcase their agents in a single day. Participants will experience a great mix of guided sessions and expert demos and constant flow of inspiration to build their own agent for a real-world challenge. This action-packed day will also provide an opportunity to showcase your agents and share your lessons learned.

What is the Copilot Studio Agent Build-A-Thon? The Agent Build-A-Thon is an event hosted by the Power CAT Team. It invites organizational teams to learn with hands-on lab exercises, build up with expert guidance and showcase their agents for their real business use-cases.
What is the format of the Virtual Agent Build-A-Thon? Each monthly virtual Agent Build-A-Thon spans across ~4 weeks.
- Week 1: Up to 8 hours of instructor-led hands-on labs and use case envisioning
- Weeks 2 and 3: Teams will work on building
their agents during this week. They will be supported by technical experts through daily office hours and 1:1 session with the experts upon request.
- Week 4: Showcase and Feedback session to demo your creations to other participants and technical advisors and obtain valuable real-time feedback from the experts.
What is the format of the In-person Agent Build-A-Thon? Each in-person Agent Build-A-Thon event will be hosted for 1 day (~8hours). The day will comprise of guided learning, expert demos, solution walkthroughs, hands-on labs and experimenting with your real-world agent and showcase your builds.

Who can participate in this? Teams from any small, medium or large size organizations may participate. Multiple teams from within an organization can also participate by submitting different use-cases. One key requirement to participate in this Agent Build-A-Thon is that you have access to Microsoft Copilot Studio in your work tenant and have any required licenses or message packs to be able to experiment in your Dev tenant.

Who can join my team? Are there any team size restrictions? All team members should be employed by the same organization. A project team can range from 2 to 5 members.
What are the requirements for the Build-A-Thon project? Your project must include building an Agent using Copilot Studio. It may be a conversational or an autonomous agent. It should, preferably, use Gen-AI orchestration. It should address a real business need and demonstrate one or more compliance aspects of the agent for enterprise readiness.
Where do I build my project? hile we provide temporary tenant access to work on your hands-on labs; we highly recommend that you build your real project in your work tenant and approved environment and ensure you have the necessary licenses and credits. If you do not have required permissions to build your agent in your work tenant, we suggest that you sign up for your own trial tenant to experiment with your team.
How do I showcase my project? Pleauring week 4 of the virtual Agent Build-A-Thon, we will host a Showcase & Feedback session, where your team will have the opportunity to showcase the agent you have built, its use case, and impact in front of the experts & other participants for real-time feedback. For the in-person event, participants can share their prototypes using direct screenshare.
