Section 10 - Create the Storage Account

SPARK utilizes a storage account for the function apps.

Requirements

An Azure Administrator will be required for this step. The installer should have:

  • Owner role1 for the Resource Group
  • Access to the Azure Portal

Step 1: Create Storage Account

  1. Browse and log into the Azure Portal

Use the correct URL for your environment:

Worldwide (Commercial) & GCC https://portal.azure.com
GCC-High and DoD https://portal.azure.us
  1. Type in storage accounts in the top search box
  2. Select Storage accounts

  1. Click on + Create

  1. Using the table below, set up the Storage group settings, and click on Next

The Storage account name will need to be globally unique. sasspark will be used for this example, but will need to be changed for your installation.

Name Value
Subscription The subscription associated with this account.
Resource Group The Resource Group created for SPARK
Storage account name (*your sub*) sasspark
   
Region The same region as the Resource Group
Performance Standard
Redundancy Locally-redundant storage (LRS)
  1. Review the default settings, and click on Next until you reach the Data protection tab

  1. Under Recovery, uncheck the options for enabling soft deletes
  2. Click on Next and review the default settings until you are at Review + Create
  3. Click on Create to create the storage account

Enabling soft deletes 2 may incur additional costs, due to every write operation creating a new version.
