# sqlsimtools > Open-source load testing, benchmarking, and workload simulation tools for SQL Server 2019, 2022, and 2025, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL database in Microsoft Fabric. MIT licensed and community supported; not an official Microsoft product. sqlsimtools offers four ways to run the same kinds of SQL workloads: - **sqlsim**: a native C++ command-line tool using Microsoft ODBC Driver 18 for low-overhead queries, scripts, concurrent load tests, and workload replay. Public Preview on Windows and Ubuntu x64. - **sqlpysim**: a Python command-line port of sqlsim built on Microsoft's `mssql-python` driver. Public Preview; shares sqlsim's core workload interface with documented compatibility gaps. - **sqlsim Studio**: a self-contained local browser app that configures, runs, monitors, replays, and compares sqlsim and sqlpysim workloads. Public Preview on Windows x64. - **sqlsimtools Workload Builder**: a GitHub Copilot custom agent, plus Agent Skills for Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other clients, that designs, runs, and compares workloads from plain-language requests. Every command must specify authentication: `-E` (Windows), `-A` (Microsoft Entra), `-T ` (access token), or `-U`/`-P` (SQL login). Results can be written as JSON with `-json`.
