Scope 1 emissions accounting
Learn about the step-by-step process for accounting for your organization’s Scope 1 GHG emissions. Scope 1 emissions are caused by sources owned or controlled directly by your company — for example, emissions from combustion in owned or controlled boilers, furnaces, vehicles, etc. or emissions from chemical production in owned or controlled process equipment.

Scope 2 emissions accounting
Learn about the step-by-step process for accounting for your organization’s Scope 2 GHG emissions. Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from the generation of electricity, steam, and heating/cooling that is purchased by your company, but not generated on-site. The process for accounting for these emissions is conceptually very similar to the process covered in Scope 1 emissions accounting, but this time the data comes from different sources.

Scope 3 emissions accounting
Learn about the step-by-step process for accounting for your organization’s Scope 3 GHG emissions. Scope 3 emissions accounting covers emissions that are not included in Scope 1 or 2, such as emissions generated by your suppliers during production or your customers during their use of your products. At its core, Scope 3 emissions accounting is really about understanding your company’s value chain and its GHG emissions. These emissions are “indirect” because they fall outside of your organization’s direct control, but still need to be accounted for.
