Bonsai Learning Modules

Welcome to the Bonsai Partner Onboarding! This program is designed to equip you with the necessary skills to support new customers on Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) and Machine Teaching (MT) problems with the Bonsai Platform.

[AAE|Week 1] Module 01: Overview of Bonsai Advance

This introductory module will give you an overview of the Bonsai Advance training program. Bonsai Advance seeks providing trainees with the resources needed towards successfully deploying Bonsai solutions in industrial environments. We have designed the curriculum to be accompanied with plenty of hands-on exercises so that the theory is easier to digest.

[AAE|Week 1] Module 02: Intro to Bonsai

In this module you will learn about the Bonsai platform. We start with an overview of the AI technologies relevant for industrial applications, to land in the strengths and weaknesses of Project Bonsai. You will learn what distinguishes reinforcement learning from other paradigms of machine learning, and how machine teaching is a fundamentally new way of solving challenging problems.

[AAE|Week 1] Module 03: The Bonsai Platform

This module will focus on the Bonsai platform. After learning about the differences between automated and autonomous solutions, as well as understanding their strengths and weaknesses, it is time to jump into the labs we created to get hands-on experience with the Bonsai platform.

[AAE|Week 2] Module 04: Machine Teaching Experimentation

In Bonsai, we have learned the difficulty to get a solution working at your first attempt. No matter how much time you dedicate to planning, there will still be changes that would make your brain train faster, or reacher better performing policies (control strategies). This module will show you to design effective curriculums for teaching a brain for solving an industrial problem.

[AAE|Week 3] Module 05: Simulations and Getting to Deployment

This week of the training focuses on presenting other elements that we had overlooked up to this point. To use the Bonsai platform, you first depend on having a simulation that is representative of the deployment environment. Moreover, it is important to train brains having deployment in mind from the start.

[AAE|Week 4] Module 06: End-To-End Bonsai Engagement Workflow

We have effectively shown you all the relevant pieces that need attention during a Bonsai engagement. Yet, it can be hard to put all the pieces together and understand how they aligned on a Bonsai engagement. In this module, we will show you a project end-to-end from presales to deployment.

[AAE|Week 4] Module 07: Complimentary Content

After performing a review of the whole Bonsai engagement workflow, and going through several examples, it is time to provide you with the complimentary topics to fill the gap for specific projects. This module includes a list of all topics that require a read-through from your side, with the chance to come back for later review whenever needed.

[AAE|Week 5] Module 08: (bonus) Project References

This module contains a set of references to the resources and checks you have to do throughout a project. It summarizes all the content presented into the major keypoints. Use this as a reference chapter to come back whenever you need to refresh a particular topic.

[AAE|Week 5] Module 09: Self-Guided Project, Capstones (AAEs)

If you are an Applied AI Enginer (AAI), you have reached the final level! Hopefully, the previous modules have taught you about the fundamentals of the Bonsai platform. Now is your time to test your skills with a new simulation environment!

[TPM|Week 1] Module 11: Overview of Bonsai Advance

This introductory module will give you an overview of the Bonsai Advance training program. Bonsai Advance seeks providing trainees with the resources needed towards successfully deploying Bonsai solutions in industrial environments. The TPM path seeks giving trainees an understanding of PM best practices towards successful prioritization from discovery to deployment.

[TPM|Week 2] Module 12: The Bonsai Platform

This module will focus on the Bonsai platform. After learning about the differences between automated and autonomous solutions, as well as understanding their strengths and weaknesses, it is time to give you a quick overview of the Bonsai Platform.

[TPM|Week 3] Module 13: Effective Technical Program Managers

This module consists of critical Technical Program Manager onboarding material such as cloud architecture, software theory, simulation environments, and machine learning theory. After completing this module, one will have a better idea of how to scope projects using reinforcement learning and Microsoft Bonsai.

[TPM|Week 3] Module 14: Customer Engagement Overview

This module is a review of what a Bonsai engagement looks like, and the key players of a customer project team

[TPM|Week 4] Module 15: Bonsai Engagement Phases and Timeline

This module discusses the phases of a typical 6-month Bonsai engagement.

[TPM|Week 4] Module 16: How to Work with Partner Enablement (and the Rest of Bonsai)

This module describes how we would like you to work with and ask questions as you work through your customer engagements
