PyRIT Shell is the interactive complement to the pyrit_scan CLI. It provides a REPL (Read-Eval-Print Loop) for running AI red teaming scenarios with fast execution and session-based result tracking.

Quick Start¶
Start the shell:

# Connect to an authenticated remote backend
pyrit_shell --config-file ./.pyrit_conf --auth-mode autoAuthentication defaults to auto. The shell uses exact-scope device-code login and stores the
result in an encrypted persistent token cache. The configuration file can set
server.auth_mode to device_code or none when automatic selection is not appropriate.
azure_cli remains an explicit compatibility mode, but its Graph token can contain permissions
beyond User.Read.
Available Commands¶
Once starting the shell, you will see the list of commands you have access to. Some of them are shown below:

Running Scenarios¶
The run command executes scenarios with the same options as pyrit_scan:

Append a registered converter instance to a single technique (or an aggregate technique) with the
<technique>:converter.<name> syntax. The converter is added to the request side of every attack
the technique produces, on top of any converters the technique already bakes in. Use
list-converters to discover the registered converter names:
