How it works

Three steps, and nothing changes in your environment until you approve it.

  1. Install the plugins

Add them to your AI assistant once, with one click or one command.

  2. Describe what you want

Open your assistant in a folder and ask in your own words. It asks follow-up questions when it needs to.

  3. Review and approve

Your assistant asks before it runs commands or changes files. Many plugins also show you a plan or confirm the environment before they publish.

Install everything at once

One command installs every plugin into GitHub Copilot CLI and Claude Code, whichever you have. It also installs the Power Platform CLI if it is missing, and turns on automatic updates.

You need Node.js and at least one of GitHub Copilot CLI or Claude Code.

The Dataverse plugin is left out by default. Each system has a command that includes it.

Your computer
  1. Open PowerShell. Press Windows, type PowerShell, and press Enter.
  2. Paste this command with Ctrl+V, then press Enter.
    iwr https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/power-platform-skills/main/scripts/install.js -OutFile install.js; node install.js; del install.js
Also install the Dataverse plugin

Use this command instead:

iwr https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/power-platform-skills/main/scripts/install.js -OutFile install.js; node install.js --include-dataverse; del install.js
  1. Open Terminal. Press ⌘ Command+Space, type Terminal, and press Return.
  2. Paste this command with ⌘ Command+V, then press Return.
    curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/power-platform-skills/main/scripts/install.js | node
Also install the Dataverse plugin

Use this command instead:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/power-platform-skills/main/scripts/install.js | node - --include-dataverse
  1. Open a terminal. Use your terminal app. On Ubuntu, press Ctrl+Alt+T.
  2. Paste this command with Ctrl+Shift+V, then press Enter.
    curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/power-platform-skills/main/scripts/install.js | node
Also install the Dataverse plugin

Use this command instead:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/power-platform-skills/main/scripts/install.js | node - --include-dataverse

Choose a plugin

Pick the assistant you use, then install the plugins for what you want to build. You can add more later.

First time in the GitHub Copilot app? Add the Power Platform marketplace before you install a plugin. You only do this once.

Add the marketplace

GitHub Copilot CLI can't be opened from a link. Each button copies one line that adds the marketplace and installs the plugin. Paste it into a terminal and press Enter. In the Windows Command Prompt, change ; to & first.

Each button opens a terminal with the install command already typed. Press Enter to install. Clicking does nothing yet? Open Claude Code once and send any message, then try again.

Build a website

Public or partner-facing sites, with data and sign-in.

Build an app

Business apps for your team, from data model to screens.

Build for phones

Apps and native features for iPhone and Android.

Automate work

Flows that run tasks for you and tell you when something fails.

Work with your data

Ask questions about records and manage tables in Dataverse.

Find where work slows down

Look for delays and rework in your business processes.

Extend apps with code

Custom controls and tools for developers.

You stay in control

Plugins work with your sign-in and your permissions, on your computer. Here is what keeps you in charge.

  • It asks before it acts

Your assistant asks before it runs a command or changes a file, and you can say no.

  • Try it somewhere safe

A free developer environment keeps experiments away from your organization's live apps.

  • Read every line

Every plugin is open source under the MIT license, on GitHub.

  • Choose what you share

Some plugins send usage data to Microsoft, and each one has a command to turn it off. See what is collected.

Questions

Before you start, you need an AI assistant (the GitHub Copilot app, GitHub Copilot CLI, or Claude Code) and a Power Platform environment you can build in.

What are plugins and skills?

Read the transcript

Your AI assistant knows a lot about code. A plugin teaches it how to build on Power Platform.

On screen: An AI assistant window opens, titled "Your AI assistant". Its Plugins list is empty and reads "No plugins yet", and the message box says "Describe what you need". A Power Pages plugin card flies in and settles into the list.

You install a plugin once, and it adds a set of skills.

On screen: Under "Skills in this plugin", five skills unfold from the plugin, each with what it does: /create-site, Start a new site. /edit-site, Change pages. /setup-datamodel, Add tables. /setup-auth, Add sign-in. /deploy-site, Upload the site.

Each skill is one job, written down step by step. Creating a Power Pages site is one skill. Deploying it is another.

On screen: /create-site opens into a card titled "Create a Power Pages site" with four steps: Ask what the site is for. Show you a plan to approve. Build the site. Ask before deploying it. A badge reads "One skill, one job". A second card, /deploy-site, titled "Deploy the site", slides in front with three steps: Check your sign-in and environment. Build the site. Upload it to Power Pages.

When you describe what you need, your assistant picks the right skill and follows its steps. It asks before it runs commands or changes files.

On screen: The cards fold back into the list of skills, which moves into the window's sidebar. Someone types "Create a Power Pages site for a job board" and sends it. A line links the request to /create-site, and the reply reads "Using /create-site" as three steps get checked off: Asked what the site is for. Showed you a plan to approve. Built the site. Then the assistant stops and asks "Allow this command?" for npm run build, with Deny and Allow buttons and a "Your turn" badge. Allow is pressed and changes to "Allowed".

So, plugins are what you install, and skills are the jobs inside them. You just ask.

On screen: The window fades. The plugin card sits on the left above "Plugin: What you install", and the five skills line up on the right above "Skills: The jobs inside it". The film ends on "You just ask." over a message box that says "Describe what you need", with "Power Platform Skills" and microsoft.github.io/power-platform-skills.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe what you want in your own words. You run a few commands to install things, and some plugins are aimed at developers. Each plugin page says who it's for.

What does it cost?

The plugins are free and open source under the MIT license. You need your own AI assistant, such as GitHub Copilot or Claude, and a Power Platform environment, which can need Power Platform licenses.

How do I update or remove a plugin?

The install-everything command turns on automatic updates. Otherwise, run claude plugin update or copilot plugin update with the plugin name. To remove a plugin, use uninstall instead of update.

Where do I get help?

Most plugins include a report-issue skill that drafts a bug report for you. You can also open an issue on GitHub.

More answers, a glossary, and developer docs are in the README.

Install the plugins and ask your first question

One command sets up every plugin. Or start with the one plugin for the goal you care about most.
