Overview

Playbooks define the response actions for AI incidents. Automation rules define when those actions fire and under what conditions. Without automation rules scoped to AI threats, every AI-related incident — whether a low-severity agent anomaly or a critical prompt injection against a production endpoint — enters the SOC queue at default priority with no owner and no automatic triage. Manual triage does not scale as AI workloads grow.

The value of automation rules in this context is not the rules engine itself, but the AI-specific triage logic encoded within it. A prompt injection incident should automatically escalate to the AI security specialist. An agent anomaly detection hit should add tasks for the analyst to verify the agent's recent API calls and token usage. Incidents from known test or development agent identities should be auto-suppressed during scheduled red team exercises. These are triage decisions that can — and should — be codified rather than left to per-incident human judgment.
