Task 1: Create a Log Analytics workspace

In the Microsoft Azure portal, search for and select Log Analytics workspaces.

On the Log Analytics workspaces blade, select Create log analytics workspace.

On the Create Log Analytics workspace blade, in the Subscriptions dropdown list, verify your lab subscription is selected.

In the Resource group dropdown list, select @lab.CloudResourceGroup(RG1).Name.

In the Name field, type LAWorkspacexxxx and then select Review + Create.

On the Review + Create blade, review the settings and then select Create.
This deployment should only take a couple of minutes.

When deployment shows as complete, select Go to resource.

On the LAWorkspacexxxx blade, in the navigation pane, select Access control (IAM).

On the Access control (IAM) blade, select Add and then select Add role assignment.

On the Add role assignment blade, search for and select Log Analytics Contributor.

Once selected, select Members.

On the Members tab, select Select members.

On the Select members dialog, search for and select your lab admin account @lab.CloudPortalCredential(User1).Username and then select Select.

Back on the Members tab, select Next.

On the Review + Assign tab, review the settings and then select Review + Assign.
