Current release version for Public Workspace Can Carry Your Own Name: 0.261.001
When admins set a display name, it replaces the generic label across navigation, your profile, chat scope selection, and directory pages. Only the label changes; the underlying workspace, its documents, and every link continue to work exactly as before.
User Side
Your organization can rename the Public Workspace to something meaningful such as Domain Knowledge, and the new name appears everywhere in the interface.
Admin Side
The label is set under Workspaces, on the Workspace Types tab, in the Public Workspaces section. The field is limited to 32 characters because the same string has to fit navigation, the chat scope selector, Profile, and the directory pages.
Only the display label changes. Internal workspace identifiers, stored documents, and existing links are untouched, so renaming is not a migration and can be reversed by clearing the field, which restores the default “Public Workspace” and “Public Workspaces” wording.
Worth doing at the same time: update whatever your help desk scripts and internal documentation call this area, because the app will use your term everywhere and support articles that still say “Public Workspace” will not match what users see.
Why It Matters
This matters because shared knowledge collections usually already have a name inside your organization, and matching it removes a translation step for everyone.
How to Try It
- Open Chat and look at the workspace scope selector.
- Note the name your organization chose in place of the default Public Workspace label.
- Open your Profile and confirm the same name appears there.
- Check the navigation and directory pages for the same consistent label.
- Select that workspace as your chat scope and ask a question against it.
- Confirm documents and citations behave exactly as they did before the rename.
- Ask your admin if the label does not match what your team calls this collection.
