Day 10

Overview

In Day 10, we will cover how the use of computing innovations can raise legal and ethical concerns. Students will discuss their thoughts about the excerpt from Chapter 7 in Blown to Bits that they read for homework. Specifically, they will discuss the challenges of regulating conduct on the Internet. Students will then read two current events articles. Students will discuss the ramifications of using computing innovations to monitor employees health and interactions with others and the impact of using facial recognition in criminal investigations.

Day 10 will be about:

  • How computing can play a role in social and political issues, raising legal and ethical concerns.
  • How computing innovations can infringe on privacy.
  • How bias in computing innovations can negatively impact individuals.
